Holiday Party Dresses

holiday-dresses

We’re taking a break from thinking about gifts for other people today and taking some time to get yourself something good! It’s that time of year where everyone seems to have a holiday get together every single weekend from now until the end of January. If you’re lucky, all of your parties are completely different groups of people so you can get away with only one or two holiday party dresses. I usually only have 2 or 3 parties each holiday season that require a dress. It’s nice to have some more casual parties mixed in as well. Which means I wear my two favorite party styles: a dress with pockets or jeans and a nice top. If you’re go to isn’t jeans and a nice top I mean are you even a real girl?

I usually lean toward above-the-knee fit & flare dresses for a couple of reasons. If it’s cold out, I like having the option to wear tights. I also like having the option of both heels and flats looking good or potentially boots. I also think it’s easier to re-wear shorter dresses because you can mix them up a few ways. I also like that they are looser through the middle in case it’s a great food party. There’s nothing worse than going to a party and knowing within 1 minute you’ll have to get chicken nuggets on the way home. I adore this Kate Spade number if you’re looking to splurge a little. I love the colors on this because it isn’t too Christmas-y. You could definitely wear this again at Valentine’s or you know any President’s Day bashes if you’re single.

If you’re headed to a work bash and need to go straight from the office or need something a little conservative, this Ted Baker dress is everything you need. I love a dress with a collar and cuffs because it’s so adorable, but the velvet on this makes it so luxe for the holiday season. I would absolutely wear this to work on a normal day, but also to any party.

My other favorite holiday dress trend is obviously sequins because who doesn’t love sequins? I have to admit I bought the best sequin mini dress at Express years ago and have pulled it out for lots of special occasions. I love this sequin midi dress for any type of holiday party. If you’re looking for something a little flashier for New Year’s, I’m obsessed with this sequin blazer style dress. It’s a totally budget friendly find and one of those dresses I can see pulling out over the years for special occasions.

If you aren’t actually into the idea of a dress for your holiday party, mix it up and go with a jumpsuit. I have several jumpsuits and have worn them to loads of parties over the years. I especially love this strapless one that comes in lots of colors. I love the idea of a strapless jumpsuit with a big statement necklace or earrings. Skinny legs on a jumpsuit are another great way to give yourself the flexibility of heels, flats, or a low block heel. Throw a leather jacket or a fur coat with it to take it to the next level.
