May Reading List

It’s almost beach season! Which means I need loads and loads of book suggestions. I go through probably 10 books a month easily during the summer. I’ve got a few books in May that are new reads and one of my favorite books of all time.

The Royal We

Ok, so I picked this book up because the cover is so cute. And as expected the story sounds super cute too. This is definitely a lighthearted, beach read. Let’s be honest though, I spend 70+ hours a week working and using my brain for serious stuff; sometimes I just need something light. This is about an American girl who decides to go to Oxford and happens to start dating the prince. They deal with all the normal relationship stuff like constant photographers, public appearances, and the pressure of one day ruling a country. I know this sounds kind of crazy, but it’s a lot more complex than a regular boy meets girl, boy happens to be royalty book.

Endless Summer Cookbook

I love Katie Lee’s show on Food Network so I know I will love her new cookbook. These recipes are centered around summer parties and the perfect food for warm weather and good friends. I love a good party and there’s nothing better than a summer get together with delicious food and all my favorite people in one place.

Let’s Pretend This Never Happened

I read this book a few years ago when it came out and it is still one of my favorites. It is an absolutely hilarious memoir from Jenny Lawson. If you grew up in a small town and maybe had a slightly weird family then you will relate to the first half of this book so much. A big part of the book is her dad’s taxidermy obsession, hence the magician mouse on the cover. Trust me, read it, laugh hysterically, tell your friends.

Never Have I Ever (My Life So Far Without a Date)

This book is a great pick for reading by the pool or at the beach. It’s super easy to read and a funny look at what it’s like to be a 25 year old woman who has never had a boyfriend. I loved this book so much when I read it mainly because I was that girl. It’s just a funny look at why you can’t get a date (you won’t chance murderers on the internet) or what your non-single friends have to say (lots of you’re just too good). Maybe girls in relationships should also read this so they don’t say stupid stuff to single girls.
