My Current Beauty Routine Vol. I

beauty favorites

I’ve talked a few times about my skincare routine and some of the changes I’ve made over the past couple of years. You can read about the clean skincare line I use here. But I realized I haven’t talked about some of the changes I’ve made to my makeup routine. I love makeup, but I really keep it simple on a daily basis. I wear a little foundation, mascara, eyeliner, and maybe blush if I remember.

Since I’ve been making such an effort to use clean, high quality skincare products, I’ve been trying to find better makeup products as well. I definitely believe good makeup starts with great skin.

I wash my face every morning with this Indie Lee cleanser. Then I use a few drops of this Caudalie oil which helps keep my skin moisturized throughout the day. It works great for any skin type and has been amazing for my normally oily, sensitive skin. I’ve seen a huge change in how hydrated my skin looks and how I always have a glowy look even without makeup.

I started using this Dior Dream Skin about a year ago as a primer and have seen such a huge improvement in my skin. It’s great for fine lines which isn’t a problem for me (yet), but it’s helped reduce the appearance of acne scarring and pores. I will say it’s kind of an investment, but this product lasts forever. I use very little every day and it goes a long way. If you want to test it out before committing, just go to Nordstrom or Saks and ask for a sample or two. I get samples of it to use when traveling because the bottle is kind of big. You’ll definitely see results pretty quickly.

Another product I can’t live without now is Lune +  Aster’s hydrabright concealer. I actually rarely used concealer before about a year ago. Not for any reason, just because I’ve been inept at trying new products. I wanted a concealer that was hydrating and not too heavy. I really only use it under my eyes. I started getting really bad dark circles last year from lack of sleep/stress/anxiety/the usual. I love this one because it really does help my eyes look a little brighter and it looks as good at the end of the day as it did at the beginning.

I’ve heard a lot about RMS Beauty for a while and wanted to try it out. All of their products are made from organic ingredients and include coconut oil so they’re hydrating. I tried a bunch of the products while I was in Kansas City at Blue Mercury which is one of my favorite places for makeup. I ended up getting the lip2cheek in Demure. I loved the color and that it can be blush or lip tint. It also lasts a really long time. I always find blush coming off pretty quickly because I have oily skin. I think the ingredients in this really help it last all day.

Another product I use often, but not daily is the Glossier haloscope highlighter. I didn’t realize I needed a highlighter and then while I was at the Glossier showroom last summer I tried it out and was hooked. I love the haloscope because it’s kind of idiot-proof. You don’t have to be good at makeup to conquer this highlighter.

I’m working on trying more products frequently now. And I’m trying to add in as many natural beauty products as I find. I definitely want to try more RMS products. Do you have any favorites I need to try out?

XO – Tracy
