Summer Beauty Must Haves

summer beauty

One of my favorite indulgences is trying out new beauty products. While I have some beauty staples I can’t live without, I’m always up for trying new things and finding products to add to my routine. Something I’ve been focusing a lot on recently is summer beauty. I’m sharing below my five favorite products for getting Summer ready this year.

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides

I have pretty oily skin so I’ve always dealt with blemishes not feeling like I could go without makeup. I also have color treated hair and use heat styling a lot which means my hair needs extra TLC especially in Summer when I’m outside a lot. I’ve been working on dealing with these two summer beauty problems all Winter and Spring to fix them from the inside out. I know, you’re like “what in the world are you talking about Tracy?” A big part of your beauty routine is your diet! I try to eat healthy 85% of the time (totally rough number) which has really improved my skin and my hair.

About 6 weeks ago I started adding collagen peptides to my morning coffee from which I’ve seen definite results. Collagen is great for your skin, hair, bones, and joints. The peptides are a powder that you can add to any drink, hot or cold. In the few weeks I’ve been using them, my hair has grown more than normal, my nails are better than ever after too much polish, and my skin is getting to the point I feel somewhat comfortable in public with no makeup. Since I drink coffee every single morning, I just add them to that. They don’t have any flavor and maybe thicken my coffee a little, but you wouldn’t even know they’re in there. If you’ve been trying to get stronger hair or nails or feel like your skin needs some love, then adding collagen peptides is definitely worth a try.

Hot Toddy Heat Protectant

I’ve been in desperate need of a heat protectant lately. I’ve been using more heat styling on my hair than usual lately it feels like. And with warm weather here, I’ll be outside a lot more and my hair will dry out in the sun. I love the Drybar line of hair products and they all smell amazing so I thought I’d give their heat protectant a whirl. I’ve been using it about a month and am loving the results so far. It smells so good and goes on without any residue or greasiness. I’m a huge fan of this as an everyday heat protectant.

Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion

I’ve actually used Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion for years, but I’m really most appreciative of it in the Summer months. It has an SPF 30 in it, so it’s perfect for being an everyday base if you are lucky like me and pale most of the year. You can get it at any drugstore or Target, so I love that it’s a total budget staple.

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme

Something I never really cared about until I tried it was lip plumping gloss. I tried the Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme at Sephora and actually loved it. I don’t really feel like I need fuller lips, but happy to take some extra help when it shows up. I love this gloss for Summer as I wear less makeup because it definitely plumps your lips, but also gives them some natural color. The gloss also stays on a long time and is not drying at all which I love. If you’ve been into the lip plumping gloss or are curious to try it, then this one is the way to. It tingles a little, but is really mild and lasts just a minute or two.

Essie Polish in Fiji

Essie is my go to nail polish brand. I have a few staple colors that I wear constantly, but love to try new colors from them. Fiji has to be my Spring/Summer color for sure. I wear it pretty much nonstop from March to August. My other color is the bright red Geranium. I love Fiji because it is the perfect pale pink that isn’t sheer. I really prefer to wear lighter pinks on my hands because I have kind of small fingernails. It’s literally the weirdest body hangup I have. I do not know why it bothers me so much, but it totally does. I always keep my nails short because I spent 80% of my life typing and because I hate long fingernails. I read once that lighter polish on small nails can help them appear bigger and I’ve just stuck with it whether it’s true or completely in my head.

Those are a few of my summer beauty must haves. Do you have any products you love to use when the weather warms up? Leave them in the comments below!

XO – Tracy
