Summer Skincare

Summer Skincare-1

Summer Skincare-2
Summer is the hardest time of year for me to keep my skin under control. Having oily skin makes it difficult to wear makeup for longer than 20 minutes in the heat. Since I have only picked very hot and humid places to live between St. Louis and Houston, I’m pretty used to trying to find ways to keep my makeup fresh all summer. I’ve tried a lot of products for my summer skincare routine and have finally found a combination that works for me.

Starting with my skincare routine, I’ve recently started using Simple Skincare’s micellar water wipes to remove my makeup. I’m seriously in love with this product and have told all my friends to start using them. I’m pretty sure they’re all incredibly annoyed with me about it too. I’ve been using them for about 2 months now and my skin has never been softer or clearer. They’re also great for when you feel too lazy to wash your face because they are really cleansing. I’ve also started using Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser to wash my face. This has helped my skin stay clear and helps reduce how oily it gets during the day. I’ve talked before of my love of Embryolisse moisturizer and that hasn’t changed. It’s still my go-to moisturizer, but in the summer I only use it at night. It’s a little too moisturizing for oily skin for daytime, but keeps my skin super soft and hydrated.

I only recently found the wonder that is Laura Mercier makeup and my whole routine has been changed by it. I actually tried it out while my sister was looking for a new foundation and I loved the way her makeup looked when she was done. So like any self-respecting female I wasn’t letting her have all the good makeup. One of my favorite products has been the blemish-free foundation primer. It has helped in my summer skincare routine to keep my skin looking clear and oil free. Since I take a lot of photos, I always love a foundation that is HD ready and at the same time that’s always helped cover a few blemishes here and there. I love the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Oil-Free Photo Ready Foundation because while it’s always photo ready, it is super lightweight and doesn’t look heavy. To top that off, I am obsessed with the translucent loose setting powder. It is perfect for summer when you may be getting some sun and in between foundation colors since it goes on translucent. The really great thing is that it sets your makeup and keeps skin from getting oily which is key in summer.

I feel like my makeup and skincare routine is always changing with the seasons and I’m always looking for new products. What are some of your summer skincare favorites? Any products I need to try?
