I’ve been having a hard time getting motivated to put on a suit or a dress for work every day with this ridiculously hot summer. I really only want to wear shorts and t-shirts and lay on my couch. I wrote about my favorite denim shorts this summer here so I won’t go into major detail about them again. But they are seriously fantastic and if you’re looking for budget-friendly, comfortable shorts then these are what you want.

Another trend that’s been huge this summer is the off the shoulder top, which I’ve been wearing all summer. I have at least 7 of them currently plus a few cold-shoulder tops. Considering I have approximately two days a week to wear them, this may be a bit excessive. Lately it feels like I’ve just been spending my weekends going to barre and running errands which doesn’t require a lot of outfit prep. I’ve talked before about my style being simple and classic which is even true for my really casual clothes too. I like that I can wear this top with denim shorts and sandals but also with a midi skirt or linen pants and heels for a date.

Even though I’ve bought quite a few of these trendy tops, I only buy them on a budget from stores like Forever 21, Asos, or Zara. I never spend more than $15-20 on trendy pieces like this because I know I’ll want a few and I won’t want them by next summer. I only make an exception if I find a piece I really love and can see myself wearing for a few years or in a different season. I like the cold shoulder tops for a night out look with leather leggings in Fall or Winter so I’ve invested in a few more of those. They’re also easier to wear with a regular bra so you don’t always have to go strapless.

Anyone else as obsessed with the off the shoulder trend? Any good places to find budget friendly options?
