I’ve always been a huge fan of style from the ’60s and ’70s, which is probably where my love of the jumpsuit comes from. I love a flare leg even if it’s supposedly hard to pull off if you aren’t a size 0. I’ve talked before about how you should just wear what you want because you like it so I’m not going to go back over all that again. But seriously just wear a trend you like, who cares if someone else doesn’t like it. Anyway, a wide leg jumpsuit is seriously one of my favorite looks of all time, but so hard to find the right one. You may have noticed but jumpsuits in general are a favorite of mine, just see here.
My issue with finding jumpsuits at all is my long torso. It doesn’t appear particularly long, but it is and then factor in having actual boobs, it’s practically impossible to find any jumpsuit/romper/bodysuit that fits right. I picked up this blue jumpsuit recently at Banana Republic and was so excited because the first size I tried on fit perfectly. I think everyone can agree with me that this rarely happens, but when it does you’re pretty much obligated to buy it. I think it’s a law or something.
The key to a good jumpsuit is finding one with some stretch to it. I love that this one has some stretch and is thick enough to help hide anything that may be a little unforgiving in the material. It’s also super rare that I find pants or a jumpsuit I don’t have to get the hem on the legs altered. I’m 5’7″ and this jumpsuit was the perfect length with 3″ heels for work. I know wearing a jumpsuit to work may feel a little odd or you may think is this professional enough? I think it really depends on the fit and the style of the jumpsuit. I wouldn’t hesitate to wear this blue one to work or this orange one which is similar. During the Summer or warmer months, I think a jumpsuit is a great alternative to a dress or a suit.
What’s your take on wearing jumpsuits to work? Anyone else struggle with the long torso issue?
